Canada: TSX Finishes Flat.
The S&P TSX Composite closed flat at 33,096 on Tuesday, as losses in mining stocks outweighed support from the energy and technology sector while investors positioned ahead of interest rate decisions from the Bank of Canada and the US Federal Reserve. Technology was mixed, with sharp declines in Constellation Software (-5.6%) and Thomson Reuters (-4.5%) partly offset by a 7.1% surge in Celestica on strong demand for electronics manufacturing services. Energy stocks helped limit losses as oil prices rebounded, lifting Cenovus by 1.8% alongside gains in Canadian Natural Resources (0.8%) and Suncor (0.6%). Financials were uneven, with CIBC rising 1.11% while RBC and National Bank were lower. The index trimmed deeper intraday losses but still ended modestly lower as caution prevailed ahead of central bank guidance.
