Europe: Stocks Closed Mixed.
European stocks closed mixed on Wednesday as losses for tech companies and industrials offset gains for healthcare and miners. The Eurozone's STOXX 50 fell 0.4% to 6,005 and the pan-European STOXX 600 gained 0.2% to 612, a new record high. Companies with exposure to the speculative momentum for AI technologies fell sharply, tracking similar developments in the United States amid concerns of froth in their equity prices. On the other hand, the pharmaceutical sector booked sharp gains with AstraZeneca and Sanofi advancing 2.5% each, while Bayer surged 7% after its Finnish partner Orion forecasted strong growth for its darolutamide drug. In turn, miners traded in London advanced sharply as bullion and base metals benchmarks recorded another session of peaks.
