India: Sensex Ends at 1-Week High.

India's BSE Sensex closed about 0.4% firmer at 83,535 on Monday, the highest level in a week, halting losses from the previous three sessions. The index tracked positive sentiment across global markets, driven by optimism around the potential resolution of the US government shutdown. Renewed foreign fund buying, expectations of progress in India–US trade talks and a positive earnings season provided further support. On the data front, attention turns to the upcoming release of October inflation, which is expected to slow to 0.48%, the lowest level since at least 2012, raising hopes of further interest rate cuts by the Reserve Bank of India. Infosys, HCL Tech, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints, TMPV and TCS were among the top gainers. On the downside, Trent underperformed, slipping 7.4%, after the clothing retailer posted its slowest quarterly revenue growth since 2021. Eternal, Power Grid and Ultratech Cement followed, down 1.5%, 1.4% and 0.8%, respectively.
