6 August 2026, 09:58  Hungary: Retail Sales Growth Slows to 7-Month Low.

Retail sales in Hungary rose by 3.0% year-on-year in June 2026, easing from a 4.8% increase in the previous month. This reading marked the weakest growth since November 2025, as sales decreased in non-food products (5.1% vs 7.3% in May), including manufactured goods in non-specialized shops (3.9% vs 5.2%), furniture and electrical goods (5.1% vs 5.3%), pharmaceutical and medical goods and cosmetic articles (7.8% vs 9.2%), textile, clothing and footwear (0.2% vs 7.3%), mail-order and online sales (5.2 % vs 14.5%), and perfume (10.1% vs 13.9%). At the same time, automotive fuel sales declined sharply (-0.2% vs 8.2%), while food products moderated (1.8% vs 3.1%), weighed down by lower activity in non-specialized food and beverages (3.7% vs 4.6%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade fell by 0.4% in June, following a 0.7% rise in the preceding period.
