31 August 2026, 05:11  Singapore: Bank Lending Hits New Record High.

Singapore’s bank loans increased to a new record peak of SGD 939.1 billion in July 2026 from SGD 931.4 billion in June. Loans to businesses advanced to SGD 572.8 billion from SGD 569.3 billion, mainly boosted by higher lending to manufacturing (SGD 31.9 billion vs SGD 28.3 billion), building and construction (SGD 189.9 billion vs SGD 186.6 billion), and general commerce (SGD 103.2 billion vs SGD 102.4 billion). By contrast, declines were seen in both transportation, storage, and communication (SGD 49.5 billion vs SGD 50.5 billion) and financial and insurance activities (SGD 146.8 billion vs SGD 151.3 billion). At the same time, consumer loans climbed to SGD 366.3 billion from SGD 362.1 billion, despite lower housing and bridging loans (SGD 252.8 billion vs SGD 254.7 billion) and higher car loans (SGD 10.2 billion vs SGD 10.1 billion).
