27 August 2026, 12:49  South Africa: Producer Inflation Cools Down for 2nd Month.

Producer price inflation in South Africa fell for the second month to 5.7% in July 2026, compared to July's 7.5% and below the expected 6.1%. The slowdown mainly reflected softer increases in prices of coal and petroleum products (24.4% vs 38.8% in June), particularly fuel costs such as diesel (29.4% vs 53.8%) and petrol (21.8% vs 36.5%), amid a decline in global crude oil prices. On a monthly basis, the PPI decreased by 1%, after falling by 0.1% in the previous month.
