Moody’s Investors Services raised on August 21, 2026, Ireland’s sovereign credit rating to 'Aa2' from 'Aa3' and reiterated its positive outlook, citing sustained improvements in the country's economy and fiscal strength. The ratings agency highlighted Ireland's strong institutional framework, effective policymaking and resilience to recent changes in US trade and tax policies. It also said foreign direct investment was delivering greater and more lasting economic and fiscal benefits than previously assessed, while strong underlying growth was being supported by public investment under the National Development Plan. Ireland has materially outperformed expectations for debt reduction, and Moody’s expects the debt burden to fall further, helped by stronger trend growth, resilient government revenues and prudent fiscal management. Standard & Poor's credit rating for Ireland stands at AA+ with stable outlook. DBRS' credit rating for Ireland was last reported at AA with stable outlook.
