Australia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment edged up to 4.5% in July, surpassing both market expectations and June’s figure of 4.4%. It was the highest reading in three months, with the number of unemployed rising by 4,200 to 691,500 from 687,400 in June, while employment fell unexpectedly by 15,800 to 14.81 million, defying expectations for a 15,000 increase.
