14 August 2026, 15:38 US: Retail Sales Unexpectedly Fall.
Retail sales in the US fell 0.6% mom in July 2026, missing expectations of a 0.1% gain and following a 0.2% rise in June. It marked the first decline since October 2025, due to falling sales at nonstore retailers, motor vehicle & parts dealer, and gasoline stations. The data is not adjusted for inflation. Meanwhile, sales excluding food services, auto dealers, building materials stores and gasoline stations, which are used to calculate GDP, were down 0.4%.
