13 August 2026, 09:18 United Kingdom: Economy Grows 0.3% in June.
The UK economy grew by 0.3% month-on-month in June 2026, compared with zero growth in May and market expectations for no change. The expansion was mainly driven by a 0.4% increase in services output (vs 0.1% in May), with the largest positive contribution coming from professional, scientific and technical activities, particularly scientific research and development, which rose to its highest level since January 2025, as well as legal activities. This more than offset declines in production and construction, which fell 0.2% and 0.1%, respectively. On an annual basis, GDP rose 1.1%, slowing slightly from a revised 1.2% increase in May but exceeding the market forecast of 0.8%. GDP increased by 0.4% in the three months to June, following a revised 0.6% expansion in the previous three-month period.
