7 May 2026, 12:34 Czech Republic: Industrial Production at 6-Month Low.
Industrial production in the Czech Republic rose 0.9% year-on-year in March 2026, slowing from 1.3% in the previous month and coming in below market expectations of 1.9%. This marked the weakest growth since September 2025, as manufacturing output moderated to 1.7% from 2.4% in February. Across the manufacturing sector, activity was dragged down by sharp declines in wearing apparel (-7.6% vs 4.2%) and pharmaceutical products (-5% vs 4.5%), while growth also moderated for wood products excluding furniture, articles of straw and plaiting materials (1.7% vs 3.1%) and paper and paper products (1.6% vs 4.3%). Meanwhile, contractions softened in mining and quarrying (-5.9% vs -6%) and in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-4.9% vs -6.7%). On a monthly basis, industrial production slipped 0.2% in March, reversing from a 1.3% increase in February.
