5 September 2025, 10:41  Austria: Trade Balance Swings to Deficit in June.

Austria’s trade balance posted a deficit of EUR 1,015.6 billion in June 2025, shifting from a surplus of EUR 596.7 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. This marked the largest deficit since February 2023 as imports rose while exports declined. Imports increased by 1.8% year-on-year to EUR 15.87 billion, driven primarily by a 6.8% rise in chemical products and a 0.9% growth in machinery and vehicles. Imports advanced for for non-EU countries (+6.3), but declined for EU countries (-0.5%). Meanwhile, exports tumbled by 8.2% to EUR 14.86 billion, attributed to lower shipments of chemical products (-20.6%), followed by machinery and vehicles (-7.6%). Exports declined to both EU countries (-5.1%) and non-EU countries (-14.8%).
