Retail sales in Slovakia rose 0.4% year-on-year in July 2025, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in June. This upturn ended a five-month sequence of declines, driven by a rebound in sales of other household equipment in specialized stores (2.4% vs -1.9% in June), accelerated growth for non-specialized stores (2.5% vs 2.1%), and increased sales of other goods in specialized stores (8% vs 5.4%). At the same time, trade contracted at a slower pace for food, beverages, and tobacco (-7.5% vs -12.7%), cultural and recreational goods (-4.9% vs -15.7%), and trade outside stores, stalls, or markets (-4.5% vs -4.8%). On a monthly basis, retail sales rose 0.5% in July, following a 0.2% gain in June. For the January–July period, retail sales were 0.9% lower compared to the same period last year.
