Japan’s foreign reserves climbed by $19.8 billion to $1.32 trillion in August 2025, the highest since July 2022. The reserves comprised $1.14 trillion in foreign currency assets, $11,259 million in IMF reserve position, $60,916 million in SDRs, $93,270 million in gold, and $16,297 million in other reserve assets. The finance ministry previously confirmed no foreign exchange intervention operations were carried out between April and June 2025.
