The FTSE 100 closed about 0.4% up at 9,217 on Thursday, the highest in a week and extending gains for the second day, amid some stabilization in global bond markets following recent turbulence. Investor attention turned to upcoming US labor market data from ADP amid growing expectations that the US Federal Reserve could cut rates soon. On the corporate front, shares of FTSE 250 Currys jumped more than 15% after a confidence-boosting update, drawing attention to other retail names including Next, JD Sports, Kingfisher, and Marks & Spencer. Financials and real estate companies also advanced. At the bottom of the index, easyJet (-4.2%) and Iberia owner IAG (-0.3%) declined after Jet2 lowered its earnings guidance in the face of “difficult” market conditions.
