29 September 2025, 23:40 Italy: FTSE MIB Eases on Oil and Bank Losses.
The FTSE MIB slipped 0.2% to close at 42,554 on Monday, pressured by losses in banks and energy. Eni fell 1.8% as oil prices dropped nearly 2% on expectations of higher OPEC+ supply and the restart of Kurdish exports through Turkey. Banks sank after the ruling League party proposed a Spanish-style levy on excess profits, aiming to raise €5 billion for the 2026 budget. Unicredit (-2.7%), Banco BPM (-2.8%), Mediobanca (-2.6%), BPER Banca (-2%) and MPS (-1.6%) led the declines. By contrast, Azimut rose 1%, Poste Italiane added 0.2%, and Generali edged higher.
