23 September 2025, 18:27 Canada: TSX Renews Record High on Commodity Strength.
The S&P/TSX Composite rose about 0.2% to top the 30,000 mark for the first time on Tuesday as the resource-heavy Toronto exchange was lifted by strong gains among commodity producers. Energy giants Canadian Natural Resources, Suncor, Imperial Oil and Cenovus led the advance, each adding between 0.5% and 1.4% as crude oil broke a four-day losing streak. Major miners Agnico Eagle, Wheaton Precious Metals, Barrick and Franco-Nevada also outperformed, rising roughly 0.6% to 1.4% as gold extended its rally to record highs. The index extended its seven-week winning run as markets welcomed the Bank of Canada’s 25bp cut aimed at supporting the domestic economy.
