London’s FTSE 100 turned slightly positive to close marginally up at 9,227 on Monday, as investors cautiously awaited important economic data this week, including PMI surveys, alongside speeches from Bank of England and Federal Reserve officials that could offer fresh policy signals. On the corporate front, gold miner Endeavour (+6.9%) and precious metals producer Fresnillo (+4.6%) outperformed as gold and silver prices reached record highs. Endeavour also benefited from the support of analysts at Bank of America after they lifted their price target by 200p to 3300p. Base metals-focused Glencore and Rio Tinto also advanced firmly, each adding around 2%. On the downside, consumer-focused giants including Unilever, Diageo, British American Tobacco, Haleon, and Coca-Cola retreated, while JD Sports Fashion fell 1.4% ahead of its half-year results due Wednesday.
