The RealClearMarkets/TIPP Economic Optimism Index fell to 48.7 in August of 2025, reflecting fresh pessimism on the economy after the 50.9 in the previous month had briefly interrupted a five-month streak of negative readings. In the meantime, the index measuring the six-month economic outlook dropped by 0.6 points to 45.5 while the personal financial outlook, which reflects how Americans feel about their own finances in the upcoming six months, slumped by 2.3 points to 53.4. In turn, the gauge measuring the confidence in Federal economic policies dropped by 3.4 points to 47.3.
