2 September 2025, 10:30  France: Budget Deficit Narrows in July.

France’s government budget deficit stood at EUR 142 billion in the first seven months of 2025, narrowing from EUR 156.9 billion in the same period last year. The improvement reflected a 1.1% drop in government spending to EUR 313 billion, alongside a 6% rise in revenues to EUR 198.2 billion. Meanwhile, the Treasury special accounts — which track the balance of targeted inflows and outflows for targeted and outlays, such as receipts from local governments — posted a shortfall of EUR 27.1 billion, compared with a EUR 27.3 billion gap a year earlier.
