2 September 2025, 09:54  New Zealand: NZX 50 Gains for 4th Straight Session.

New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index rose 0.5% to close at 13,133, marking its fourth consecutive session of gains, supported by strong performances in the transportation and non-energy minerals sectors. Notable movers included Mainfreight (+2.3%), Port of Tauranga (+2.4%), Fletcher (+2.6%), Santana (+2.1%), and AborGen (+2.4%). The technology services sector also contributed to the advance, led by Vista Group (+4%) and Serko (+3.6%). Meanwhile, traders continued to monitor US tariff policy following a federal appeals court ruling that most of President Trump’s global tariffs were unlawful. Market caution also persisted ahead of upcoming US jobs data, which could guide the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision later this month. In New Zealand, attention is turning to potential candidates for the new RBNZ governor, after Prime Minister Luxon indicated on Monday that an appointment is expected within weeks.
