Gold production in South Africa edged down 0.4% year-on-year in July 2025, marking the first monthly decline after two consecutive gains, easing from a downwardly revised 2.9% rise in June. The contraction subtracted 0.1 percentage point from overall year-on-year growth in total mining output. On a seasonally adjusted basis, gold output rose 0.9% in July, following a revised 1.6% decline in June.
