1 September 2025, 12:19  Italy: Unemployment Rate Falls to 18-Year Low.

The unemployment rate in Italy fell to 6.0% in July of 2025 from the downwardly revised 6.2% in the previous month, firmly below market expectations of 6.2%, to mark the lowest jobless rate since the record low of 5.8% touched in 2007. The result consolidated the trend of a historically tight labor market in Italy, diverging slightly from major economies in the Eurozone. The number of unemployed individuals fell by 4.6% from the previous month to 1.532 million in the period, also the lowest since 2007. In turn, the net number of jobs in the Italian economy rose by 0.1% to 24.217 million. Consequently, the labor force fell for the second straight month by 0.2% to 25.749 million, remaining firmly above its historical average.
