Private house approvals in Australia rose 0.5% month-over-month to an eight-month high of 9,454 units in May 2025, confirming preliminary estimates, and following a 5.9% growth in April. This marks the second consecutive month of increase in private house permits, driven by rising in Victoria (+9.5%), South Australia (+1.6%), and Queensland (+0.7%). On the other hand, permits declined in Western Australia (-7.6%), and New South Wales (-5.4%). Compared to the same month last year, private house approvals rose 3.5%, slowing from a 5.4% gain in the prior period.
