8 July 2025, 18:48 USA: Inflation Expectations Fall to 5-Month Low.
US consumer inflation expectations for the year ahead declined to 3% in June 2025, from 3.2% in May, the lowest in five months. Year-ahead commodity price expectations increased for gas (by 1.5 percentage points to 4.2%), for the cost of medical care (by 1.9 percentage points to 9.3%, the highest level since June 2023), for the cost of college education (by 1.6 percentage points to 9.1%), and for rent (by 0.7 percentage point to 9.1%). Median year-ahead expected change in food prices remained unchanged at 5.5%. Also, median home price growth expectations remained unchanged at 3.0%. Meanwhile, inflation expectations for the three-year and five-year horizons were unchanged at 3.0% and 2.6%, respectively.
