8 July 2025, 15:16  Greece: Trade Deficit Narrows in May.

The trade deficit in Greece narrowed to EUR 2.3 billion in May 2025 from EUR 3.3 billion in the same month last year. Exports declined by 1.3% year-on-year to EUR 4.2 billion, as a result of a decline in sales by 6.1% to third countries, while it advanced by 2.6% to EU countries. Meanwhile, imports fell sharper by 14.7% to EUR 6.5 billion, mainly due to lower shipments by 35.4% from third countries, whereas arrivals rose by 10.2% from EU countries. Considering the first five months of the year, the country’s trade deficit eased to EUR 13.4 billion from EUR 14.4 billion in the corresponding period a year ago, as exports dropped by 4.3% and imports contracted by 5.3%.
