8 July 2025, 14:58  India: Sensex Ends Slightly Higher.

India's BSE Sensex closed about 0.3% up at 83,712.5 on Tuesday, driven by gains in heavyweight financial and banking sector stocks. Sentiment remained cautiously optimistic about a potential deal, but investors awaited definitive progress on the India–US trade agreement. On Monday, the Trump administration began sending formal notifications outlining new tariffs on products imported into the US from a number of nations. India is one country that may reach a deal with the US before the deadline, averting Trump’s 27% “reciprocal” tariff rate. Among the Sensex constituents, 18 out of 30 stocks ended higher. Kotak Mahindra Bank topped the index with a gain of over 3% after it reported robust June quarter deposit and loan growth. Eternal, Asian Paints, NTPC, Bharat Electronics, and Adani Ports were also among the notable performers. On the opposite side, Titan sank more than 6%, its sharpest drop in 14 months, following disappointing June-quarter sales.
