8 July 2025, 10:38  Hungary: Inflation Rate at 3-Month High.

The annual inflation rate in Hungary inched up to 4.6% in June 2025 from 4.4% in the previous month, in line with market forecasts. This marked the highest reading since March, driven by higher costs for food (6.2% vs 5.9% in May), electricity, gas and other fuels (8.6% vs 5.3%), and consumer durables (2.6% vs 2.2%). In contrast, price growth slowed for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6.3% vs 7.3%) and services (5.4% vs 5.9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1% in June, following a 0.2% increase in May. Meanwhile, the annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, eased to a seven-month low of 4.4% in June, from 4.8% in the prior month and below market expectations of 4.6%.
