It will be his second visit to China since being re-elected in May, following a landmark trip in 2023 that ended a seven-year diplomatic freeze. Albanese stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue with China despite ongoing differences between the two nations. His visit comes amid Beijing’s push to review the decade-old free trade agreement to strengthen ties in agriculture, mining, and emerging technologies. Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador Xiao Qian said that his government is willing to review the agreement with a more open attitude and higher standard.
