7 July 2025, 11:41 Austria: Wholesale Prices Up for 1st Time in 5 Months.
Wholesale prices in Austria rose by 0.2% year-on-year in June 2025, rebounding from a 0.5% drop in the previous month. This marked the first month of growth in wholesale prices since January, driven by significant increases in costs for coffee, tea, cocoa and spices (+29.3%), watches and jewellery (+21.4%), live animals (+19.0%) and non-alcoholic beverages (+10.0%). Upward pressures also came from fruits and vegetables (+7.3%), meat and meat products (+5.9%), alcoholic beverages (+5.3%), musical instruments (+5.1%) and dairy products, eggs, edible oils and fats (+5.0%). Conversely, price declines were seen from solid fuels (-12.1%), other liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (-8.8%), waste and scrap (-8.3%), plastics and rubber in primary forms (-7.4%) and motor spirit (-6.4%). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices advanced by 0.6% in June, the first increase in five months, following a 0.3% fall in the preceding period.
