7 July 2025, 05:47 Australia: Job Ads Rise for First Time in 3 Months.
ANZ-Indeed Australian Job Ads increased by 1.8% month-over-month in June 2025, rebounding from a downwardly revised 0.6% decline in the previous month and marking the first growth since March. The latest data suggests the labour market remains resilient despite lower interest rates. “Given the ongoing tightness in Australia’s labour market and the overall resilience in its economy, we maintain our expectation that this easing cycle will be relatively shallow,” said ANZ economist Aaron Luk. The job market has held up better than expected, with the unemployment rate steady at a historically low 4.1%. However, the central bank anticipates it could rise to 4.3% amid growing risks from U.S. tariffs that threaten global trade. On a yearly basis, job ads slipped 0.4% but remained 16.1% above pre-pandemic levels, underscoring persistent demand for workers.
