Industrial production in France decreased by 0.5% month-over-month in May 2025, missing market forecasts of a 0.3% rise, but better than the 1.4% drop recorded in the previous month. Manufacturing output continued to fall (-1% vs -0.7% in April), with declines seen in the production of coke and refined petroleum products (-6.1% vs -14.3%), food and beverages (-0.6% vs 0.4%), machinery and equipment (-0.8% vs -2.2%), and other manufacturing (-1.4% vs 0.4%). On the other hand, production rebounded for mining and quarrying, energy, water supply, and waste management (2% vs -5%). On a yearly basis, industrial output was 0.8% lower in May.
