Personal spending in the US increased 0.3% month-over-month in June 2025, rebounding from a flat reading in May but slightly below forecasts of 0.4%. It mostly reflected a recovery in spending on goods (0.5% vs -0.7% in May), namely nondurable goods (0.7% vs -0.2%). Spending on durable goods flattened (0% vs -1.7%). Meanwhile, outlays for services rose 0.3%, the same as in May, indicating weak discretionary spending. Adjusted for inflation, consumer spending advanced a meagre 0.1%, after a 0.2% fall in the previous month.
