31 July 2025, 15:55 South Africa: PPI Inflation Hits 4-Month High of 0.6%
South Africa's PPI inflation rose to 0.6% in June 2025, the highest rate in four months, up from 0.1% in the prior month. The largest positive contributor to the headline annual PPI inflation rate was food, beverages, and tobacco products, which rose 4% (vs 3.7% in May) and added 1.2 percentage points. On the other hand, prices fell for coke, petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products (-4.7% vs -6.4%); paper and printed products (-2.6% vs -2.9%); and electrical machinery and communication and metering equipment (-1.9% vs -1.3%). On a monthly basis, producer prices went up by 0.2%, after decreasing by 0.3% in the previous month.
