Retail sales in Switzerland rose by 3.8% year-on-year in June 2025, widely exceeding market expectations of a 0.2% increase and following an upwardly revised 0.3% rise in the previous month. This marked the highest retail activity since February 2022, primarily driven by higher sales in non-food products (5.3% vs 1.8% in May), information and communication equipment(19.2% vs 12.9%), and other goods (3.2% vs 1.2%). In addition, sales recovered for food, beverages, and tobacco (2.8% vs -1%), cultural and recreation goods (7.1% vs -1.1%), and via stalls and markets (7.1% vs -0.2%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade grew by 1.5% in June, reversing from a downwardly revised 0.4% decline in the preceding period.
