30 July 2025, 15:26 Ireland: Retail Sales Rebound in June.
Retail sales in Ireland rose by 0.6% month-over-month in June 2025, rebounding from a 0.6% fall in the previous month. The recovery was driven by improved performance in several sectors, including department stores (1.4% vs -3.7% in May), electrical goods (4.2% vs -1.3%), and books, newspapers & stationery (0.7% vs -1.0%). Additionally, declines moderated for food, beverages & tobacco (-2.1% vs -2.2%) and non-specialized stores (-0.3% vs -0.6%). Meanwhile, sales continued to fall for hardware, paints & glass (-1.7% vs -1.5%), while growth slowed in furniture & lighting (0.9% vs 1.2%) and other retail categories (3.1% vs 3.2%). Moreover, sales tumbled for fuel (-1.6% vs 2.2%) and bars (-4.1% vs 1.2%). On an annual basis, retail activity climbed 3.0% in June 2025, from a 1.5% gain in the previous month, marking the strongest growth since January 2024.
