The FTSE MIB advanced 0.7% to around 41,030 in early trading on Tuesday, as investors digested a wave of corporate earnings and assessed the implications of the newly announced US-EU trade agreement. Market participants also awaited the outcome of trade talks between senior US and Chinese officials, with expectations that the current tariff truce could be extended by another three months. In corporate news, BPER Banca said on Monday that it had secured 80.6% of Popolare di Sondrio shares as tender offer ends. The company’s shares climbed 2.5%. Other financial stocks also gained, including UniCredit (+1.2%), Intesa Sanpaolo (+1.3%), Mediobanca (+1.4%), and Banco BPM (+1.5%). Key gainers in other sectors included STMicroelectronics (+2.3%), Leonardo (+1.6%), and Assicurazioni Generali (+1.3%).
