29 July 2025, 11:48 France: Stocks Open Higher.
The CAC 40 index rose 0.6% to around 7,845 on Tuesday, recouping some losses from the previous session, with gains in EssilorLuxottica leading the advance. Shares of the Franco-Italian eyewear giant jumped over 5% after the company reported a rise in first-half operating profit, managing to offset tariff-related headwinds. Other notable gainers included Airbus (1.3%), Schneider Electric (0.7%), and Safran (1.9%). On the flipside, luxury stocks were under pressure, such as Hermes (-0.2%) and LVMH (-1.3%). Meanwhile, investors continued to assess the newly signed US-EU trade pact, which has sparked criticism in France and raised concerns that the deal favors the US while offering little support for the eurozone economy. German Chancellor Merz and others also warned of potential downside risks for European exporters and broader growth.
