29 July 2025, 08:53  South Korea: KOSPI Rises Amid Diplomatic Push Ahead of Tariff Decision.

The benchmark KOSPI rose 0.10% to around 3,211 on Tuesday, extending gains for a third consecutive session amid renewed diplomatic efforts by South Korea to secure more favorable trade terms. With three days remaining until the deadline for potential US tariff measures, Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan and Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo have traveled to Scotland to continue high-level negotiations with US counterparts. The two officials had earlier held talks in Washington with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Their visit coincides with President Donald Trump’s arrival in Scotland for separate trade talks with the European Union, seen as part of a broader diplomatic push to finalize tariff agreements. Major gains were from Hanwha Aerospace (3.2%), LG Energy Solution (2.2%), and Shinhan Financial Group (1.3%), while SK Hynix (-1.5%), Hyundai Motor (-1.1%), and Samsung Electronics (-1%) posted losses.
