U.S. President Donald Trump said he has ordered officials to resume trade negotiations with Cambodia and Thailand after both countries agreed to end five days of fighting along their disputed border. “By ending this War, we have saved thousands of lives. I have instructed my Trade Team to restart negotiations on Trade,” Trump announced in a social media post Monday. He confirmed speaking with Thailand’s Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet to help secure the ceasefire. The truce was reached during talks in Malaysia hosted by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Over 150,000 civilians were displaced by the clashes. Trump had earlier warned both nations that their trade deals with the US would be blocked if violence continued. Without agreements, both face 36% tariffs starting Friday.
