28 July 2025, 08:17  Australia: Shares Open the Week in Green.

The S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.3% to 8,696 on Monday, rebounding from the previous week, as market sentiment improved following new trade agreements between the US and the EU. The two economies announced a new trade framework after a meeting at the US president's Scottish golf course, which includes a 15% tariff on European goods and EU commitments to purchase more American energy and military equipment. Adding to the optimism, reports suggested that the US and China are likely to extend their tariff ceasefire by another three months. This development comes just ahead of the third round of trade negotiations, set to begin later today in Stockholm. In Australia, attention now turns to the upcoming monthly and quarterly inflation data due later this week. Notable gains were seen in Newmont Corporation (up 4.6%), Block Inc. (2.2%), ResMed (1.7%), and Goodman Group (1.2%).
