24 July 2025, 19:25 USA: CFNAI Rises in June but Remains Below Trend.
The Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI) rose to -0.10 in June from a revised -0.16 in May, marking the third consecutive month below zero and indicating that economic activity remains below its long-term trend. Although two of the four broad categories of indicators improved from May, all four categories contributed negatively to the index in June. Production-related indicators contributed -0.01, improving from -0.06 in May. The personal consumption and housing category contributed -0.01, up from -0.10. Meanwhile, the sales, orders, and inventories category contributed -0.04, down from +0.01, and the employment-related indicators contributed -0.05, compared with -0.01 in May.
