23 July 2025, 17:03  India: Stocks Close Firmly Higher.

Indian stocks closed higher on Wednesday, tracking the improved momentum in global equities amid signs that the US is accepting lower tariff rates with major trading partners. The S&P BSE Sensex added 0.7& to 82,723 and the NSE Nifty 50 added 0.6% to 25,220. US President Trump lowered tariffs on Japan to 15% from the previously threatened 30% on their deal. Additionally, US Treasury Secretary signaled that he is optimistic about extending the tariff truce with China in their upcoming meeting next week. Financial giants were sharply higher, with ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finance adding 3% and 1.6%, respectively. In turn, Infosys closed 0.5% up ahead of their key earnings release after the bell.
