The FTSE 100 closed at 9020 on Tuesday, marginally up from the previous daily record, supported by strong corporate updates. Compass Group rose more than 5% after raising its revenue growth forecast and announcing a €1.5 billion acquisition of Dutch firm Vermaat. Centrica gained more than 4.5% after confirming a 15% stake in the Sizewell C nuclear project, joining other major investors including the UK government. Analysts said the deal could boost Centrica’s earnings and financial stability. Meanwhile, Greencore raised its profit outlook on strong sales of sandwiches, sushi, and ready meals, with continued momentum expected.
