22 July 2025, 14:54  France: Stocks Down for Second Session.

The CAC 40 index fell 0.4% to below 7,770 on Tuesday, extending losses from the previous session amid growing uncertainty over US-EU trade talks ahead of the looming August 1 tariff deadline. Market sentiment remained cautious as a deal remains elusive, with reports that the EU is preparing a broader set of counter-measures. EU diplomats suggested the bloc could target US services or restrict access to public tenders if no agreement is reached. Meanwhile, an ECB survey on Monday showed euro zone firms remain upbeat on growth but face profit pressures partly from trade tensions. In corporate news, Safran finalized its purchase of Collins Aerospace’s flight control business, aiming for $50 million in annual synergies by 2028. The engine and aircraft equipment maker fell 0.4%. Top decliners include LVMH (-0.4%), Airbus SE (-0.7%), and Schneider Electric (-0.8%).
