Food prices in Malaysia increased by 2.1% year-on-year in June 2025, keeping the same pace for the second consecutive month while remaining at the softest pace since September 2024. Prices rose for several categories, including fish and seafood (1.6% vs 1.9% in May), oils and fats (1.7%, unchanged), fruits and nuts (0.1% vs -0.4%), sugar, confectionery, and desserts (1.0% vs 1.1%), and food away from home (4.7% vs 4.4%). In contrast, costs declined for food at home (-0.4% vs 0.0%), cereals and cereal products (-0.3%, unchanged), meat (-1.1% vs -0.3%), milk, dairy products, and eggs (-1.8% vs -1.9%), and vegetables (-7.2% vs -5.5%).
