21 July 2025, 13:59  Greece: Current Account Deficit Shifts to Surplus.

Greece’s current account recorded a surplus of €0.20 billion in May 2025, reversing a deficit of €2.32 billion in the same month last year. This also marked the country’s first monthly surplus in three months, driven by improvements across all components. The services surplus widened to €2.21 billion from €1.88 billion in May 2024, supported by robust tourism and transport revenues. At the same time, the secondary income turned positive, posting a surplus of €0.52 billion from €0.22 billion a year earlier. Meanwhile, the goods account deficit narrowed significantly to €2.36 billion from €3.45 billion, while the primary income shortfall decreased to €0.17 billion from €0.51 billion. On a cumulative basis, the current account deficit shrank to €6.43 billion, compared with €8.58 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
