Net foreign acquisitions of long-term securities, short-term US securities, and banking flows was a net TIC inflow of $311.1 billion in May 2025. This included $333.2 billion in net private inflows, partially offset by $22.1 billion in net outflows from foreign official institutions. Foreign residents increased their holdings of long-term US securities, with net purchases totaling $318.5 billion. Of that, private foreign investors accounted for $287.5 billion, while foreign official institutions added $31.1 billion. Meanwhile, US residents also stepped up their foreign investments, recording net purchases of $59.1 billion in long-term foreign securities.
