17 July 2025, 11:07 United Kingdom: Wage Growth Lowest in Nearly 3 Years.
Regular pay excluding bonuses in the UK rose by 5% year-on-year to GBP 677 per week in the three months to May 2025, the least in nearly three years, after an upwardly revised 5.3% rise in the previous period and slightly above forecasts of 4.9%. Wage growth slowed in both the private sector (4.9% vs 5.2%) and the public sector (5.5% vs 5.6%). Among industries, the strongest annual wage growth was seen in wholesale, retail, hotels, and restaurants (7.1%), followed by services (6%), construction (4.9%), manufacturing (4.8%), and finance and business services (3.1%). Adjusted for inflation, real wages grew by 1.1%.
