15 July 2025, 23:33 France: CAC 40 Drops on Tuesday.
The CAC40 slid 0.6% to close at 7,762 on Tuesday as renewed US threats to impose 30% tariffs on EU imports reignited concerns over higher levies and weaker export demand. Luxury names ceded ground, LVMH (-0.5%), Hermes (-0.5%) and L’Oreal (-1.5%), while aerospace groups Airbus (-1.6%) and Safran (-0.5%) suffered amid fears of disrupted supply chains. Pharma heavyweight Sanofi fell 1%, and banks like AXA slipped 0.8% after the ECB signalled a pause in its easing cycle. Only defensives Schneider Electric (1%) and TotalEnergies (0.3%) bucked the trend. On the macro front, May industrial production unexpectedly declined and both manufacturing and services PMIs softened, compounding the downward pressure on stocks.
